Uncharted: Drake's Fortune

This "review" contains very minor spoilers and was completed on Normal difficulty in just around 7.5 hours. This is 'my thoughts' rather than an elaborate 'review'.

Uncharted: Drake's Fortune is the first game in the Uncharted series which launched in 2007 as one of the most prominent games on the Playstation 3.

Looking back on it, the game has not aged quite well and it feels almost as if Drake's Fortune is the game that is known for spousing one of the best recieved and acclaimed titles of this generation:
Uncharted 2: Among Thieves.

If there is one way I would describe Uncharted: Drakes Fortune as it would be a great game that lacks replay value.

While collecting treasures and such is a nice bonus and while trophies were added in later: Drakes Fortune lacks any real sense of accomplishment during your replay which is an issue when the campaign is rather short.

This would not bother me if the campaign itself was full of memorable moments therefore prompting several playthroughs; however unlike Uncharted 2 which has many of these moments or even Uncharted 3 which literally has every section full of amazing moments: Drakes Fortune is less of a memorable journey and more of a one time adventure that will only entertain you for the brief time during your first playthrough.

However that first playthrough is fantastic and the story keeps you guessing.

For it's time the graphics were absolutely phenomenal and the characters had lovely interactions with each other. The animations were very well done and the gameplay as a whole was kept rather simple but still surprisingly challenging at times.

Combine that with a witty writing, a story of El Dorado and a plot twist that introduces a new kind of enemy which was a complete shock the first time around and you have yourself a great game.
