Efter det episka misslyckandet med det otroligt hemska WWE 2K20 och det mycket mediokra WWE 2K Battlegrounds, är nu 2K Sports redo att ge sig in i den fyrkantiga ringen igen. Via ett officiellt inlägg meddelas att WWE 2K22 lanseras över hela världen den 11 mars 2022, och att det blir den mexikansk-amerikanska brottaren Rey Mysterio som pryder omslaget för att fira hans 20-årsjubileum som WWE-stjärna. Han kommenterar äran:
"Representing the culture of lucha libre as the cover Superstar for WWE 2K22 is a moment of great pride for me. I'm looking forward to sharing the stories behind the big moments of my career with a dedicated community of players and connecting with WWE fans in a whole new way as they play through my 2K Showcase."
Utvecklaren Visual Concepts utlovar att "from the redesigned gameplay engine to new controls and upgraded visuals, WWE 2K22 is set to look, feel, play, and 'Hit Different'". Tydligen kommer vi kunna "feel the pressure and reward of every punch, kick, and slam".
När vi talar om spellägena kommer det förutom de återkommande, även erbjudas: MyGM och MyFACTION. Det förstnämnda låter oss "step into the role of a WWE General Manager and call the shots on their way to building the biggest brand in the WWE Universe", och i det sistnämnda ska vi "collect and manage their dream faction with weekly events and regular updates, providing tremendous challenges and replay value".
Som vanligt finns flera utgåvor och WWE 2K22 kommer kunna köpas i Standard Edition, Cross-Gen Digital Bundle, Deluxe Edition och nWo 4-Life Digital Edition.
