Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences har nu avslöjat en ny vinnare av sitt prestigefyllda DICE Lifetime Achievement Award, och den här gången är det Xbox-bossen Phil Spencer som föräras. Kriterierna att priset tilldelas "for individuals whose accomplishments span a broad range of disciplines over a lengthy career in the industry".
Han kommer ta emot priset från Bethesdas Todd Howard vid den 25:e årliga DICE Awards-ceremonin, som äger rum i Las Vegas senare denna månad. Detta innebär att han ansluter sig till tidigare vinnare som Playstation-skaparen Ken Kutaragi, som fick priset 2007, och den älskade Nintendo-chefen Satoru Iwata som fick priset 2015.
AIAS ordförande Meggan Scavio hade detta att säga om varför Phil Spencer vann priset:
"Phil Spencer has demonstrated both passion and leadership throughout his entire career at Microsoft. He's responsible for countless impactful and pivotal initiatives that have reverberated throughout the entire gaming industry. On behalf of the Academy's Board of Directors, we are looking forward to celebrating Spencer's important impact on video game history by presenting him with our Lifetime Achievement Award."
Bland de personer som har gratulerat Phil Spencer till utmärkelsen finns Nintendo of Americas tidigare chef Reggie Fils-Aimé som twittrade "this is so well deserved, we need to toast this in person!" och Playstation Studios-chefen Hermen Hulst som twittrade "Congratulations Phil. So well deserved."

Congrats, Phil Spencer!"
Phil Spencer själv har också kommenterat denna ära genom att säga:
"The people we work with are the most important part of any progress. This is so true for me. Not only members of #TeamXbox but also players, partners, other platform holders have all helped me learn, grow and realize the opportunity we have. Thank you."
