Den legendariske filmskaparen Tim Burton har i årtionden välsignat filmvärlden med egensinniga filmer som Mars Attacks, Beetlejuice, Batman, Ed Wood och Edward Scissorhands. Han har under åren också arbetat en hel del med Disney, där hans senaste samarbete med megastudion var en nyversion av Dumbo. I en presskonferens under helgens Lumière Festival avslöjade han dock att Dumbo blir hans sista Disney-film. Han anser nämligen att Stormusens™ filmvision är alldeles för enhetlig för hans smak och berättade att produktionen av Dumbo var en hemsk upplevelse, där han liknade Disney med en "hemsk cirkus":
"It's gotten to be very homogenized, very consolidated. There's less room for different types of things. I can only deal with one universe, l can't deal with a multi-universe."
"My history is that I started out there. I was hired and fired like several times throughout my career there. The thing about Dumbo, is that's why I think my days with Disney are done, I realized that I was Dumbo, that I was working in this horrible big circus and I needed to escape. That movie is quite autobiographical at a certain level."
