Flera miljarder kronor (!) kostade det att bygga, det direkt plågsamt ambitiösa och välskapta Star Wars-hotellet vid namn Galactic Starcruiser, inne på Disney World i Florida. Tanken var att låta nördiga gäster bo inuti ett Star Wars-rymdskepp med allt vad det innebar och även om tanken naturligtvis var god och hotellet perverst läckert gjort, har det floppat på ett sätt som ingen hade kunnat föreställa sig. Detta innebär att Disney stänger igen Galactic Starcruiser den 30 september i år, för gott.
Vi här på redaktionen slänger iväg en vild gissning gällande det faktum att intäkterna aldrig riktigt infann sig och chansar på att det kanske kan ha att göra med att en enda hotellnatt kostar 25 000 kronor på detta hotell. Eller vad tror du är orsaken?
CNBC skriver följande om hotellupplevelsen i sig:
"The Galactic Starcruiser is more than a hotel, however. It is an immersive experience. Voyagers spend their time on the Halcyon meeting new characters and aligning themselves with the light or the dark side. The main gist of the overarching story goes as follows: You are a passenger on a starcruiser for a two-day voyage. During that trip, a First Order officer and several stormtroopers board the ship to root out Resistance spies. Alongside these villains there are spies, musicians, rebels and reluctant heroes, everything that makes up a Star Wars story. And, of course, some familiar faces also appear, including Chewbacca, Rey and Kylo Ren. The experience has earned some of the highest guest satisfaction ratings in the history of Walt Disney World and earned a Thea Award for outstanding achievement in the themed entertainment space."
