Från början var Final Fantasy XVI faktiskt planerat att släppas till både Playstation 4 och Playstation 5 samtidigt, men det uppskattades att det skulle ha tagit ytterligare ett-två år att utveckla även denna version.
Detta avslöjar producenten Naoki Yoshida en intervju hos Final Fantasy Union:
"What I can say is that while developing, we originally had a plan to release the game on Playstation 4 possibly. During development, we realized that to get it to a level that we were gonna be proud of we would have needed at least one or two more years of development."
Final Fantasy XVI har aldrig utannonserats till Playstation 4, och det är alltså Playstation 5-versionen vi får hålla till godo med den 22 juni.
