Efter att ha regisserat live-action-versionen av Dumbo för Disneys räkning så var Tim Burton redo att pensionera sig. Detta berättade han i en intervju med Variety där Burton beskrev tiden efter Dumbo som märklig.
"Honestly, after 'Dumbo,' I really didn't know I thought that could have been it, really. I could have retired, or become... well, I wouldn't have become an animator again, that's over"
Han fortsatte sedan med att berätta om hur arbetet med Wednesday tände eld på hans kreativitet och lust att arbeta igen. Han beskrev till och med upplevelsen som lite av ett rehabiliteringsläger.
"We went off to Romania and it felt like it was a creative health camp, it went so well"
Burton berättade sedan om hur lätt det är att tappa bort en bit av sig själv i Hollywood-"maskineriet".
"Oftentimes, when you get into Hollywood, you try to be responsible to what you're doing with the budget and everything else but sometimes you might lose yourself a little bit. This reinforced the feeling for me that it's important that I do what I want to do, because then everybody will benefit"
Tack och lov blev inte Dumbo hans sista film ohc det verkar onekligen som att Burton funnit sig själv igen med både Wednesday och nu Bettlejuice, Bettlejuice bakom sig.
