Det verkar som att regissören Denis Villeneuve kommer att göra Dune: Messiah tidigare än vad han först hade förväntat sig. "I'm in the writing zone right now." säger regissören.
Villeneuve berättade nyligen i en intervju med Deadline att han hade tänkt ta en paus efter att ha regisserat och filmat Dune: Part Two, att han skulle återvända till skogen och "stanna där ett tag" för att återhämta sig. Det visade sig inte passa honom alls, och han är nu på väg tillbaka tidigare än vad han trott för att spela in den tredje filmen i Dune-universumet.
"But the woods weren't really suiting me, and I would go back behind the camera faster than I think. But that's all I can say." säger Villeneuve i intervjun med Deadline men fortsatte ändå med att avslöjade några mindre godbitar om den efterlängtade del tre av Dune. "In order to save his friends, Paul Atreides must start a war."
Han säger också att den nya filmen kommer att avsluta berättelsen om Paul Atreides. "A leader that is not there to free the Fremen, but to control them. That's the tragedy of all tragedies. Like the Michael Corleone of sci-fi, he becomes what he wanted to avoid. And he will try to find a way to save his soul in the third part."
Slutligen bekräftar han också att Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Florence Pugh och Anya Taylor-Joy alla skulle återvända till uppföljaren, hela gänget alltså. "They have to return. They are with the main cast when it happens, and more worms. What can I say?"
Spännande. Initialt har det varit sagt att den tredje filmen i ordningen skulle komma först under 2026, men detta ger hopp om att vi kanske inte behöver vänta så länge.
