NCSoft har tidigare haft stora framgångar med Guild Wars 2 och Lineage, men det finns indikationer på att deras senaste onlinerollspel Throne & Liberty, inte lyckats leverera som det skulle (trots en fin start) och detta leder nu till en stor omstrukturering av hela företaget och därmed en stor uppsägningsrunda.
Koreanska Yonhap bekräftar via uttalanden från NCsofts två VD:s, Taek-Jin Kim och Byung-Moo Park, att NCsoft har problem:
"We feel a deep sense of responsibility and offer an apology to all employees. Ss a result of operating in a way that most of the manpower and functions are concentrated at the headquarters, financial performance has continued to deteriorate and we are at risk of becoming a chronically loss-making company. This is seriously damaging the creativity and challenging spirit that NCSoft originally possessed."
Detta innebär att NCsoft, istället för att ha ett huvudkontor i Seoul, nu kommer delas upp i flera oberoende studios som var och en fokuserar på ett projekt. De består i dagsläget av NCAI, Studio X, Studio Y och Studio G. De skriver bland annat:
"Major changes are inevitable for the survival and future of the company, and we promise active support and compensation to those affected."
