Willits svarade: "What we did is we actually use a base character as the middle. And then once that felt good, and we felt 'okay, this feels like Quake, this is what we want', then we started to adjust the other Champions. Now it's really important for everyone to understand that at its core it's still just Quake, and so the speed variation, the air control and things like that are enough of a difference that you can kind of feel the different characters, but it's not a game altering change. You still got to pick up all your weapons, you know you've got to time your shots, and your items and things. But the Champions add that depth and strategy that I think enhances the overall experience."
"The weapons that we showed [at the QuakeCon keynote] were our classic weapons. So we have the holy trinity there, the Rocket Launch, Rail and Lightning Gun. We won't mess with the holy trinity. And we showed people that we have the Arsenal. We do have some plans for something a little different and new, but we just wanted to make people comfortable with the core Quake gameplay that we have now. So that's why we showcased the weapons that you'd expect from a Quake game."
