Blizzard: BlizzCon "like our Super Bowl, World Cup finals"

The esports side of things draws fans in every year.
Sam Bishop 24 augusti 2018

Blizzard's esports presence is undeniably huge, with Overwatch, StarCraft, Heroes of the Storm, and more all proving themselves in the competitive space, and when we spoke to BlizzCon's executive producer Saralyn Smith at Gamescom, she told us that even if people don't regularly keep up with each game, BlizzCon is something that always gets them involved.

"Yeah so the esports aspect of BlizzCon is a really big deal to us, and we think that seeing our games played at the highest level - it's always an honour to see the talent and the commitment that players have put into it. And for the live attendees and the people online, everyone wants to see the esports happening at the show. There'll be standing room only, particularly at the finals that are happening on Saturday, so even if they haven't been following the esports programs all throughout the year, a lot of people wanna watch during BlizzCon. It's like our Super Bowl, it's like our World Cup finals, so people show up."

Is esports your favourite thing at BlizzCon?
