Uppföljaren till vad många anser vara den starkaste filmen i DC-universumet landade i våra knän på juldagen och möttes av minst sagt ljumma recensioner. Så även från vår sida där vi ansåg att den drogs med en lång rad problem. Inte minst öppningsscenen med den larviga "vem-är-den-bästa-amazonkrigaren" tävlingen föll platt som en torsk och kändes direkt irrelevant ställt till den historia som resten av filmen försökte förtälja.
Men i en intervju som Patty Jenkins nyligen gjorde med JoBlo så talades det om hur hon kämpade för att den skulle få vara kvar i Wonder Woman 1984, alltjämt medan studiehuvudena ville se den bortklippt. Något vi anser de absolut borde tryckt på hårdare om. I intervjun hade Jenkins följande att säga om det hela.
"I wouldn't have jammed it in there because of the success of the film, because it actually made the movie too long. We have two openings in our movie and we would talk about it with the studio all the time and they would say, 'You've got to cut the mall and the eighties, or you've got to cut the Amazon.' I was like, we can't, we can't cut either."
"I love the fact that you hear all of the 'being a great hero takes your whole life,' you know? So there was this wisdom there that they were trying to tell her which is not about being the strongest or the fastest, it's about these complex observations you have to make during life in order to become a true hero. I love that she doesn't understand that until that final speech."
Vi är inte övertygade och hon borde definitivt behövt mer pushback från Warner Bros. Vad tyckte ni andra om WW84 och öppningsscenen?
