Strax före lanseringen av Windows 11 har Microsoft nu gått ut med att de tillåter tredjepartsbutiker via Windows Store. Från och med nu kan användarna därmed ladda ner exempelvis Amazon och Epic Games Store och det är troligt att listan kommer att fortsätta utökas i framtiden. Den uppenbara fördelen för användarna är att det innebär att alla dessa olika butiksfronter kommer att vara lätt att upptäcka och snyggt paketerade under samma tak.
Giorgio Sardo, general manager för Microsoft Store, säger:
"Just like any other app, third-party storefront apps will have a product detail page — which can be found via search or by browsing — so that users can easily find and install it with the same confidence as any other app in the Microsoft Store on Windows. Today, we are sharing that Amazon and Epic Games will bring their storefront apps to the Microsoft Store over the next few months, and we look forward to welcoming other stores as well in the future."
