Uppföljaren på James Camerons megasuccé Avatar närmar sig med stormsteg och förväntningarna är skyhöga, inte minst för 20th Century Studios som distribuerar filmen och självfallet hoppas The Way of Water skall åtnjuta samma framgångar som originalet. Totalt planeras fyra uppföljare och det har rapporterats om att den totala budgeten för dessa överstiger tio miljarder kronor, en direkt vansinnig summa pengar. Så visst tusan finns där press på Cameron att leverera. Men skulle det mot förmodan bli så att The Way of Water faktiskt floppar så är regissören även redo för det och kan i så fall tänka sig avsluta sagan om Pandora i den tredje filmen.
