The first day ends...
I'm waiting in line for the Little Big Planet presentation and its the last thing on my schedule on the first day of E3. It started in the Kodak Theatre where Nintendo showed off the next Animal Crossing the evolution of the Wiimote and Wii Music and has continued with a lot of good presentations and interviews. I've played some Fable 2 and chatted with Peter Molyneux - who never wants to hype, but always ends up hyping and I've also had the chance to play Resident Evil 5 and Bionic Commando. I must admit that I suck at Bionic Commando though, it takes a while to get into the swinging and the E3 setting a couple of minutes just isn't the ideal way of experiencing that game.
I chose not to go the Sony press conference as it interferred too much with the rest of the day here at the Convention Center. But I watched the highlights on my laptop and it seems Sony have a couple of things up their sleeve. God of War III was expected, but the new title from Zipper Interactive (Socom) also looks like a killer app.
The soft, releaxed feeling of yesterday has carried through today and E3 is much easier to work these days. Developers on hand to answer questions, plenty of space in the booths and good oppurtunities to get some hands-on time. For obvious reasons we are focusing on getting interviews for GRTV, so I haven't been to the show floor yet, but I hope to catch a glimpse of it before we head out to get some more tapes for the cameras. Tonight Activision are holding their unofficial E3 press conference and I hear that is where the Activision Blizzard brand will be officially revealed. But regardless of that Activision have some really strong titles coming up before the end of the year that I would like to see.
One thing that is absent or at least almost absent is gifts and goodie. Back in the hay days of E3 you wound up carrying huge bags with t-shirts and stuff, but this year all I got was a Brothers in Arms comic book and some Lego figues (Batman). I hope Jonas Mäki won't be too upset as he wanted me to bring home the loot...
