Christophe Balestra som är co-president av Naughty Dog sa detta angående deras nya Uncharted projekt som kommer.

"I mean we're going to be pushing storytelling and performance capture as always. But graphically I think we're going to see a big jump with what the team is working on right now and I think people will be pretty amazed with all the good stuff that's happening at Naughty Dog today."

#6 - Ares

Kratos versus the God of War himself from the first game is quite possibly the most memorable moment of the entire series. Having opened Pandora's Box and gained the power within it: Kratos ascends into a higher and "stronger" state which leads him to confront Ares along the shore of Athens.

After the first stage of the fight, Ares sends Kratos to some location where he sees his wife and daughter. Suddenly, clones of Kratos are approaching his family as they are trying to kill them. Kratos then has to defend his family from himself. A rather neat function during this part of the fight is that you can hug your family and give your own health in exchange for their health to regenerate.

Ares is then able to take control of Kratos' blades and drive them through his family. With his blades gone and having failed his family again, Kratos is down on his knees, defeated.

That is until Kratos lays his eyes on a sword in the distance: as he wields it, the battle continues. Just like the Minotaur boss, the "health" bar is rather cleverly designed during this final part. Instead of a traditional health bar, the bar acts more like a momentum bar. For each hit one lands, the bar moves further into to the receiver's side thus decreasing it and making the givers side increase in length.

As some time passes into the fight: Ares unleashes a new stage of himself where his back turns into claws, similar to a scorpion. As you fight and watch the city burn right next to the two of you: The battle reaches its end. For all the time that Kratos has been living in torment after having Ares fool him into killing his own daughter and wife, he is about to have his revenge.

"I was trying to make you a great warrior..." Ares pleads as he is down on his knees staring upon his former slave who'm is standing with the great sword in his hand.

"...You succeeded" and so Kratos viciously impales Ares, right through his throat and so begins the time where the God of War is no more.

The build up to fight Ares exists throughout the entire game which truly adds to the battle. It is an unforgettable boss fight but still not the peak of the series.

#7 - Aegaeon The Hecatonchires & Megaera

Like the boss before, this boss is the intro boss in its game. God of War Ascension starts with Kratos being imprisoned ontop of Aegaeon the Hecatonchires. He was the first to break a blood oath with a god and to be punished by the Furies, becoming a titan sized living-prison of the living damned. He is quite possibly the largest titan with several arms.

Once the game starts, Megaera is seen to be torturing Kratos. Megaera is one of the three Furies in Greek mythology. Megaera was the cause of jealousy and punished people who committed crimes. As Kratos manages to break free, the player navigates around this prison and it does not take long until you realise that the prison is infact ontop of a titan. Megaera seems to have an ability that allows her to take control and alter the behaviour of other living things. She uses this to transform one part of Aegaeons hand into a ferocious creature which in turn attacks Kratos.

As Kratos slays it and traverses all over the Hecatonchires, he ends up right infront of its enormous face. Megaera wastes little time in waking the huge titan, and out of its jaw comes several long and sharp claws. As the titan is moving the platform that Kratos is on, Kratos manages to jump off to another platform where he is reunited with another ferocious hand creature.

This is when the battle hits its climax. As you are on the platform, to your left: You are forced to dodge the titan whereas to your right, you are fighting the hand creature. Upon defeating the hand creature, Kratos leaps onto him and takes control of him like he usually does to a cyclops.

You then control the hand towards the massive face of the titan, as you slash the creature to basically force him to hit his own face.

Yeah, try finding that in any other game.

As you kill the titan and he starts to bite his own hand, Kratos then gets a hold of Megaera and throws her down from what is a rather large fall as he follows in air and impales her upon landing.

The scale is arguably the largest ever seen in any God of War game to date. The only issue which is a recurring problem in Ascension as a whole, is the fact that there is no prior build up to the fight. You just find yourself being there and doing what needs to be done. At the moment, it is truly a spectacle. But afterwards, you just move on. Contrast that to the bosses of God of War III where the game is a direct continuation of God of War II and you just feel that some of the hype is lacking.

Once again the soundtrack is well composed although it never quite does it for me as most other bosses in the series. Despite that, it is still ahead of most titles and that is a true strong plus that God of War as a series has going on for it.

It is a rather lengthy and impressive sequence.

#8 - Colossus of Rhodes

The Colossus of Rhodes was a statue of Helios, which was placed in the city of Rhodes. It is considerd to be one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.

The Colossus of Rhodes is the intro boss in God of War II. And I think it is safe to say that by now, you can expect epicness defined during the intro stages of the God of War series. I cannot possibly imagine experiencing this game in 2007 when it first released. The boss battle is just jaw dropping.

The story itself is a bit strange though. Zeus has given life to the Colossus in order to kill Kratos who has been going on rampages ever since he became the God of War. I suppose it is because he is depressed after the first game but you never quite figure that out. It is briefly stated that Kratos simply loves to kill (in other words).

Zeus drained nearly all of Kratos' power and gave it to the statue to animate it, and it immediately broke free of its hold and strode into the city. Kratos who fought back was managed to cut off its left hand and drain the powers into the Blade of Olympus. With the blade in Kratos' hand, he used it to blast a hole into the side of the colossus. Kratos then leaps into the colossus and starts to attack it from the inside. Once the colossus collapses, Kratos escapes from the mouth and is ironically crushed by the right hand of the fallen statue. This allowed Zeus to finally impale Kratos and send him to the underworld.

In short, the scale is remarkable and the soundtrack complements the scenery perfectly. Check it out.
