Att flera av oss på redaktionen fortfarande håller Snyders långfilmsadaption av Alan Moores ikoniska mästerverk som den bästa serietidningsrullen som någonsin gjorts - är såklart ingen hemlighet. Vi älskar Watchmen: Director's Cut, innerligt. Vi vet dock alla att det inte blev någon uppföljare och ingen "prequel" och även fast Warner kommenterat detta med information om hur Zacks film inte lirade in den mängd kosing som filmbolaget hade hoppats på, verkar det finnas fler orsaker till varför det aldrig blev någon mer film. Åtminstone om du frågar Rorschach-skådespelaren Jackie Earle Haley som under PR-turnén för The Tick skvallrade lite om licensbråket mellan Paramount och Warner Brothers. Paramount ägde ju rättigheterna till Watchmen-filmen men lät Warner ta över dem för att i slutet av produktionen kliva in och kräva pengar. Det låter minst sagt geggigt...
"I wish they would have gone on. You know, I think they probably would have gone on and done more films with Watchmen, different versions of it, because I think there was enough success that they could have gone back in time or done something with it. But I think the thing that really kind of held it up was the fact that there was this contention of ownership between Warner Bros and Paramount. Dude, it was like Paramount waited until [Watchmen] was pregnant. We were at the end of production, when Paramount said 'Oh, and by the way..."
