Efter att ha återvänt med den andra säsongen av Peacemaker verkar James Gunn nu vara klar med serien, för det blir till synes ingen tredje säsong. I en intervju hos IGN bekräftar han att historien om John Cenas patriotiska (och en smula förvirrade) antihjälte nu vävs in i det nya DC-universumet istället:
"No, this is about the wider DCU and other stories in which this [the ending of Season 2] will play out right now. So that doesn't mean that there won't be. I don't want to... never say never. But right now, no. This is about the future of the DCU."
Han förklarar vidare att Peacemaker fortfarande är en nyckelfigur i hans vision för DCU, vilket är ett universum där ikoner som Batman och Superman får samsas med mindre kända hjältar, som också ska få sin tid i rampljuset:
"He's really important to me. Peacemaker is an important character. And I said from the beginning when we took on this job, it's about really propping up and maintaining and repositioning the big diamond properties that DC has, the Batmans and Wonder Womans and Supermans, and then creating diamond properties out of the smaller characters like Peacemaker."
När Gunn får frågan om Peacemaker kommer att dyka upp i kommande filmer som Man of Tomorrow eller Supergirl är han mer hemlighetsfull, men verkar inte utesluta något:
"Well we'll have to see. That's a secret!"
