Eighties video game show Starcade making a comeback

The show saw people play games competitively against each other.

Remember Starcade? It was a show in the eighties that saw contestants play games against each other for prizes, which sounds an awful lot like current esports tournaments, especially since there was a host, an audience, and a feeling of good-spirited competition in the air.

Well, it's making a comeback, and Shout! Factory has acquired the rights to it from creators Mavis E. Arthur and James Caruso. The reboot comes with several other projects from the media company.

"We're thrilled to be part of this Starcade revival," Caruso and Arthur announced in a statement. "We look forward to bringing the show back for all those avid Starcaders who have been waiting for years, as well as a new class of gaming heroes."

There's no word on when it will be out, but we're certainly looking forward to it here. Are you?
