Lions Elektroniske Sportsklubb, one of Norway's oldest esports organisations, is merging with MyXMG to form the Oslo Lions. The new organisation is fielding teams in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and Starcraft II so far.

The move comes as a bit of a surprise, as neither organisation has had much activity within Counter-Strike lately. Lions have only played five games this year, and MyXMG hasn't even fielded a Counter-Strike team - at least not one that has participated in any tournaments.

But despite their current status as a low-tier team, the name Lions should evoke memories for any long-time Counter-Strike fan. Back in the days of Counter-Strike 1.6, Lions were top contenders, particularly with the Swedish line-ups they fielded over the years. Names like Xizt, dennis and THREAT should ring a bell even with more recent fans, and Fnatic 1.6 star Gux also played for them.

Oslo Lions are currently looking for a fifth player to round out their Norwegian Counter-Strike squad. There's no word on what has happened with the MyXMG League of Legends team, but the Oslo Lions website makes no mention of them.
