Blade & Soul has an esports competition at Gamescom last month, and we spoke to producer Jonathan Lien at Gamescom in Cologne to talk about the esports scene, and he explained to us exactly what was going down.

"Sure, so we actually have our EU regional championships here tomorrow, here at the ESL Arena at Gamescom, so what this is is the top eight teams from around Europe that qualified through getting fighting points through online and in person, as well as their placement on the ladder," he explained. "They are teams of three, they're going to be battling it out in both 1v1 and 3v3 arena combat to be crowned the champion of Europe, and also walk away with a pretty nice prize pool."

We then asked about the World Championships, and how these players can do there. "I don't know, we'll see how they do," he said. "We've got a lot of really skilled players, both in North America and Europe. They've been practicing really hard, they've been scrimmaging with the other top teams in their region, so I think they've been preparing pretty well. I think they're really motivated to do well, and I hope we have a really good showing."

How well do you think EU players can do?
