5v5 is a brand new mode coming to mobile MOBA game Vainglory, which also has a big presence in the mobile esports space, and in a recent interview with Forbes Kristian Segerstrale, CEO of developer Super Evil Megacorp, spoke about the 5v5 mode, and whether it'll be the standard for the Vainglory Premier League competition.
"Yes, 5v5 is the new competitive standard for the Vainglory Premier League," he said. "We're really proud of how large the Vainglory competitive scene has grown. We've nearly tripled our audience every year to the point where the World Championship in 2017 was watched by more than 100,000 simultaneous viewers with over 15 million total views globally."
"The 3v3 mode will remain in the game as a first-class citizen alongside the 5v5 mode. However, for competitive play we take our lead from the community. Over the past few months — especially after the 5v5 exhibition matches at our World Championship — the overwhelming feedback from our casual and competitive communities alike has been to shift our competitive play over to 5v5."
"It seems that our community is as excited by the increased strategic depth of 5v5 as we are and we expect 5v5 to provide a significant additional growth driver for both the game and the esport during 2018."
Do you think 5v5 is a good choice for Vainglory?
