Det är nu lite över tio månader sedan vi sist hörde något om den påstådda uppföljaren till actionrökaren Face/Off. Förhandssnacket handlade mycket om att Godzilla vs. Kong-regissören Adam Wingard och hans kollaboratör Simon Barrett var kopplade till projektet och nu bekräftas det också att Nicolas Cage själv blivit en del av dialogen. Skådespelaren berättar för Collider hur Face/Off 2 inte bara hade inneburit en rematch mellan Castor Troy och Sean Archer utan även kommer involvera deras respektive barn.
"I think Face/Off is a sequel that lends itself to a lot of twists and turns and unpredictability. It's almost like if you factor in the idea of offspring and Castor and Sean having children and these children grow up, then it becomes like three-dimensional chess, and then it's not just the two, John Travolta and myself, it's four of us ping-ponging and going at different levels, and it becomes even more complex. I think there's a lot of fertile ground there. I had maybe one meeting in an office, but I haven't heard anything since, so I don't know."
Cage har också uttryckt sig positiv till tanken på Wingard som regissör.
"He's great, and I think we share similar tastes. We have similar sensibilities. I liked everything he did with Godzilla vs. Kong and I think that he's smart. He has respect for cinema and various kinds of iconography. I think it would be great."
Än så länge har inga detaljer dykt upp kring när denna uppföljare skulle kunna börja tänkas filmas och just nu är Wingard djupt involverad i uppföljaren på Godzilla vs. Kong som förväntas få premiär den 15:e mars nästa år. Så Face/Off 2 lär tidigast ske 2025 om vi får gissa.
