Den före detta Sony Interactive Entertainment-chefen Andrew House blev intervjuad i samband med GamesBeat-konferensen och fick bland annat frågor om Playstation 5. Han vägrade som väntat avslöja några detaljer, men sade iallafall att han tror Playstation 4 har lång tid kvar eftersom "hardware cycles can, and ought to be, a lot longer than they were in the past".
House fortsatte och sade:
"I'm very bullish on longer life cycles for consoles. Consoles are so under-represented and under-penetrated in so many markets around the globe. There's so much potential. Let's not forget that China is still largely [untapped]."
Han menar att Playstation 4 Pro och Xbox One X hjälper till med att förlänga konsolgenerationen och tillägger att han räknar med att spel på skiva kommer hänga med länge än:
"I don't have any firm knowledge on this, but my sense is that you will see the disc around in the industry for a while. If you're going to tap into some of these [developing] markets, then allowing for that more traditional physical purchase model as an option is probably no bad thing."
