Ja, Aretha Franklin's sång om respekt har mycket riktig leta sig in i soundtracket till Mafia III. Hanger 13 och 2k Games har nämligen nyligen avslöjat hela låtlistan för det kommande actionspelet där över hundra, mer eller mindre, välkända låtar från, mer eller mindre, tidsenliga artister och band finns att finna. Förutom redan nämnda Franklin hittar vi som exempel ett antal låtar från The Rolling Stones, en ynka klassiker från Elvis samt att givetvis Creedence Clearwater Revival's gamla slagdänga om den "lyckligt lottade sonen" är med på ett hörn.
Om du sedan undra varför vissa låtar är så kallade "covers" så är det helt enkelt för att utvecklarna valt dessa för att skapa effekt i spelets story. Så här säger spelets regissör Haden Blackman:
"We have a moment in the game where you hear the Duprees version ( av låten "You Belong to me") and it's a really dramatic moment between two characters. It's playing on a radio in the background and it's very fitting of the moment. Then later we have a really powerful turning point for one of those characters and you hear just a brief snippet of the Misfits version. There's something really special about the thunder of the Misfits doing this song that's very poetic and powerful."
