Housemarque lägger ner satsningen på arkad-shooters

Finska utvecklaren Housemarque låter meddela att de lägger ner satsningen på arkaddoftande shoot 'em ups, som de blivit kända för. Enligt grundaren och tillika chefen Ilari Kuittinen är flopparna av Nex Machina: Death Machine detta år samt Matterfall förra året orsakerna bakom beslutet:

"It's bittersweet at this moment. The era, the ten-plus years that we've been mostly working on smaller, downloadable, arcade-inspired console games has come to an end.

While this genre will always hold a special place in our hearts, the industry is moving more toward multiplayer experiences with strong, robust communities, and it's time for Housemarque to move forward with the industry."

Housemarques nästa spel kommer bli "something totally different", men de utlovar att det utvecklarens motto ska genomsyra även det spelet: "gameplay first with first class execution".
