Meta Quest 3 har utannonserats

Vad som under en längre tid enbart florerat som lösa rykten har nu blivit officiellt utannonserat, Meta Quest 3 - det senaste i raden av VR-headsets från Meta och Mark Zuckerberg. Med en prislapp på cirka 5500 kronor och 128GB lagringsutrymme så är Meta Quest 3 en uppgradering på flera punkter mot tidigare enheter. Bland annat är konstruktionen 40 procent lättare och med det nya Snapdragon-chipet på insidan är prestandan mer än fördubblad.

Quest 3 utlovar dessutom full bakåtkompatibilitet med gammal mjukvara, kommer med de helt nya Touch Pro-kontrollerna och är dessutom utrustad med tre sensorer på framsidan av headsetet. Dessa hjälper inte bara till med att visuellt särskilja Quest 3 mot dess föregångare utan huserar fyra olika kameror tillsammans med en djupsensor som samtliga assisterar till med att förbättra headsetets AR-prestanda.

Meta lovar att visa upp Quest 3 mer djupgående under deras planerade Connect event den 27:e september. De informerar också om att priset på Quest 2 från och med den 4:e juni blir nästan 1000 kronor billigare, detta för att göra det möjligt för ännu fler att så billigt som möjligt ges möjlighet att uppleva Meta och VR. Redesigned for Comfort + Control
With a 40% slimmer optic profile* compared to Quest 2, Quest 3 is a sleeker, more comfortable headset. We also completely redesigned Quest 3's Touch Plus controllers with a more streamlined and ergonomic form factor. Thanks to our advances in tracking technology, we've dropped the outer tracking rings so the controllers feel like a more natural extension of your hands and take up less space. We also included TruTouch haptics that first debuted in Touch Pro to help you feel the action like never before. You can even upgrade to our fully self-tracked Meta Quest Touch Pro Controllers for a premium experience. And hand tracking will be supported out of the box, so you can explore without controllers, thanks to Direct Touch that lets you use just your hands to interact with virtual objects.
