På E3 avslöjade Microsoft den väldigt kraftfulla Project Scorpio och vi kunde inte motstå att fråga Xbox marketing executive Aaron Greenberg om maskinens framtid när vi pratade med honom på Gamescom 2016.
Han sade att sett till hårdvara "a lot of work goes into designing and building the specs around those and everything it takes to test and bring those things to market. We're really excited about Project Scorpio, it's really fun to share that at E3, to see our fans reactions. To be able to deliver a console with a 6 Teraflop GPU, the most powerful console ever made, to deliver true 4K gaming, things like high fidelity VR that we talked a lot about at E3, it's great to see fans excited and people really wanting to know more."
Det verkar inte som att vi kommer få höra mer om Scorpio snart, dock.
"I'd say look for us to share more on that next year. Really we're focused on our games lineup, things like Xbox One S and all the things we're delivering for customers this year. We feel like we have a really rich offering and its great to see things like Xbox One S already being sold out in a lot of markets. We're seeing really strong pre-orders for a lot of our top games this holiday like Forza Horizon 3 and things like that".
Vi frågade även om resonemanget bakom att avslöja den så tidigt, varpå han hade följande att säga:
"Yeah it's a bit of a non-traditional approach if we're optimising from a marketing standpoint for sure, but for us that's such a full step, such a full leap forward from where we are today that we really wanted to do that early so that one, our developing partners, our publishing partners, our retail partners, the whole industry can start preparing for what Project Scorpio is, what true 4K gaming will deliver. At the same time it has some great customer benefits. Customers are deciding do they want to get an Xbox One S, the things like 4K blu-ray, 4K video streaming, HDR gaming, a lot of great benefits for those fans at a great value. Do they want to get that today or do they want to be someone who waits for true 4K Gaming. So we're letting customers decide what they want".
