I samband med att Lionhead Studios lades ner tog Fable-serien också en ofrivillig paus som varat sedan dess. Ett fristående kortspel från lika fristående utvecklare kallat Fable Fortune är det enda som presenterats, men det är knappast vad fansen hoppas på.
Nu har Microsoft Studios-chefen Shannon Loftis uttalat sig om seriens framtid, och det låter inte helt positivt när hon till Gamespot säger:
"Fable is very near and dear to my heart. Actually, one of the primary reasons [I moved to England] was to work with the team on Fable II. Fable Fortune is now out, the card game. We love the IP. I can't talk right now about whether we're doing anything with it or not, but if I ever get the chance to go back to Albion ... "
