Nacon har säkrat licensen för FIA World Rally Championship. Detta efter att Codemasters och EA valde att avsluta utvecklingen av WRC och nu planerar den franska speljätten att utveckla en helt ny serie rallyspel baserade på världsmästerskapet. Det är dock inte första gången som Nacon är involverade med licensen och de har tidigare assisterat Kylotonn vid utvecklingen av WRC-spel, bland annat WRC 10 och WRC Generations. Erfarenhet som de nu kommer att dra nytta av.
Nacon betonar att den nya spelserie de nu kommer att utveckla ska introducera fräscha idéer och innovera inom genren. I ett officiellt blogginlägg som postades av WRC själva sa man:
As part of this strategic partnership, NACON will begin development of an all-new WRC game series, aiming to deliver an immersive experience that faithfully reflects the reality of the championship and meets the expectations of both rally enthusiasts and new players.
The games will feature the official rallies, vehicles, teams, drivers, and sponsors among the many anticipated content elements. This project represents a complete reboot of the franchise, based on an entirely fresh vision, and marks an ambitious new chapter in the brand's development.
Det första spelet förväntas släppas 2027 och deras licensavtal varar fram till och med 2032 förutsatt att inget oväntat sker.
