Tomek Baginski, exekutiv producent för The Witcher, låter nu meddela att teamet bakom Netflix-serien införlivat Geralts skådespelarbyte (Henry Casvill lämnar och ersätts av Liam Hemsworth) i berättelsen, och att detta är kopplat till "the meta ideas which are deeply embedded in the books, especially in book five.".
Till Yahoo News säger Baginski att det blir "very lore accurate":
"It's very close to what was set out in the books and I think this change will be quite flawless. But at the same time it will be a new Geralt, it will be a new face for this character and I think it will also be very, very exciting to see."
Med tanke på att Geralt faktiskt inte alls ändrar hela sitt utseende i Sapkowskis böcker, är vi inte helt övertygade av det Netflix säger.
Även om Cavill själv inte sagt exakt varför han lämnar The Witcher, så har han varit öppet missnöjd med seriens inriktning där han helst ville återskapa den mörkare och råare tonen från böckerna istället för Netflix mer barnvänliga version som även fått mycket kritik för att vara alltför politiskt korrekt. För två år sedan sade Cavill såhär till PhilStar om saken:
"The toughest part for me was finding that balance between the showrunners' vision and my love for the books, and trying to bring that Geralt to the showrunners' vision. It's about treading a fine line there. It's the showrunners' story and so it's an adaptation. The tricky bit for me was finding Geralt from the books' place within that and being able to serve both as much as I could. The things that I pushed for, it was not necessarily just more dialogue. It was bringing a more book-accurate Geralt to the screen. [...] All of my asks and requests were along the lines of just being faithful to the source material."
