The Marvels har snart gått på bio i en vecka i Sverige och det har inte varit någon lysande start för filmen. Filmen har vare sig fått bra recensioner eller lyckats dra mycket folk till biograferna. Faktum är att det ser ut att bli en av de största flopparna i Marvel Studios historia. Nia DaCosta, som är helt ny till Marvels universum, har tidigare berättat om hur det varit att anpassa sig till filmuniversumet, och i en intervju med The Hollywood Reporter berättar hon att hon rådfrågade andra Marvel-regissörer innan inspelningen drog igång.
"I talked to a lot of Marvel directors. It's such a specific experience and they make movies in such a unique way, it was really cool to get some insider knowledge. He [James Gunn] really contextualized what we were doing and how hard it was. Sort of reframing the way you think about it."
Även Tessa Thompson, som spelar Valkyrie i universumet, gav DaCosta lite tips inför filmen.
"[Tessa] was the first person I talked to. For Tessa ... I wanted to know all the tea about Kevin Feige. I was like, 'is he the worst? Like, is he gonna torture me for however long this movie is?' She was just like, he's a really great guy, and he really cares, so that was very reassuring."
