Vi minns alla Martin Scorseses fantastiska nyinspelning av den sydkoreanska filmen Infernal Affairs, The Departed. Vad vi däremot inte kände till är uppföljaren som Mark Wahlberg tillsammans med manusförfattaren William Monaham försökte pitcha till Martin Scorsese. Något som misslyckades monumentalt. I en radiointervju med KFC Radio berättade skådespelaren mer om det hela.

"I went into a meeting with Bill Monahan at Warner Brothers to pitch the sequel to The Departed. He wanted me to go with him, and this was after it had won Best Picture, and big success and all that. And let's just say the pitch didn't go very well. He [Monahan] really didn't have anything fleshed out, but he's the kind of guy you just trust to go and write something. And so when we were working on the script for Cocaine Cowboys, American Desperado, [I] said, 'Bill, just go write'. He wrote The Gambler for me, you know, he's fantastic. He assumed that the studio would have the same kind of response that everybody else did; that they'd just let him go figure it out. But they [the studio] like to have things well-thought-out and planned. So, that pitch didn't go well"

Även senare försök misslyckades att övertyga och Warner ansåg det helt enkelt för kostsamt plus att Scorsese inte var det minsta intresserad av att regissera en uppföljare. Vad tror du, hade en Departed 2 varit något som kunnat bli bra?
