Reggie Fils-Aimé: Wii U-misslyckandet ledde fram till Switch

Nintendo of America-chefen Reggie Fils-Aimé sade i samband med GeekWire Summit att Wii U-misslyckandet ändå förde något gott med sig eftersom det ledde fram till succén med Switch:

"We had launched the Wii U, following on the heels of the Wii, which had sold 100 million units globally. The Wii U did not have that same level of success. But what we heard from consumers is that the proposition of a tablet (...) coupled with the ability to play games on the big screen TV, was really compelling."

Och det visade ju sig vara alldeles korrekt. Men lite god vilja kan man alltså se Wii U som ett mycket kostsamt betatest inför Switch, något som Fils-Aimé understryker och fortsätter "without our experiences on the Wii U, we would not have the Nintendo Switch in terms of what we learned and importantly what we heard from our consumers".
