Det finns fortfarande många som vill ha sina spel fysiskt, vilket betyder mer tillverkning, transporter och framför allt plast. Nu gör Sega Europe en satsning på att få bort detta genom att helt gå över till återvinningsbara fodral. Hittills gäller det dock bara PC, detta eftersom konsoltillverkarna har strikta regler kring hur deras fodral får se ut.

Sega America har redan gått över till enbart digitalt till PC, men alla Sega Europes spel (titlar från bland annat utvecklare som Creative Assembly, Relic och Sports Interactive) kommer nu börja säljas med de nya omslagen över hela världen på de marknader där fysiska spel normalt säljs. Sega Europe-bossen Gary Dale kommenterar:

"This initiative underlines Sega Europe's commitment to reducing its plastic waste and its ongoing efforts to implement environmentally friendly business practices.

We'd like to reiterate Miles [Jacobson's] plea from September 2019 to the entertainment industries to investigate similar packaging solutions, across movies, games and music so we can collectively observe a drastic reduction in the production of plastic packaging and its associated waste and pollution, over the coming years."
