Netflix-chefen tror filmer kommer gå kortare tid på bio

Netflix har alltid släppt sina egna filmer direkt till just Netflix. Det har gjort dem svåra att konkurrera mot för andra filmföretag som först vill visa sina rullar på bio och först långt därefter till streaming-tjänster, något som gjort att de sällan har nya filmer att bjuda på. Det här drabbar i viss mån även Netflix, som ju även har andra filmer än sina egna.

Men Netflix tror att det här kommer ändras. Tack vare (eller kanske snarare på grund av?) pandemin har både Disney och Warner börjat släppa sina filmer direkt till Disney+ och HBO, och frågan är om detta kommer ändras i framtiden. Netflix produktchef Greg Peters säger att han räknar med att tiden filmer går exklusivt på bio kommer att sjunka så streaming-fansen får se film hemma.

I en intervju hos Deadline, förklarar Peters:

"It's what consumers want. It's hard to buck that trend for too long and I think that's eventually where things go."

Han fortsätter sitt resonemang med att lägga till:

"We have created the most compelling collection of entertainment available at the click of a button that's ever existed. That's incredible for consumers and for our members. For us, as user experience designers and builders, it creates a challenge because across that wide range of choice, our job is to distill that down into something that makes it easy and fun and exciting to pick what you want to watch next. We wake up every day thinking about how to make this better. So, we're far from content with where we are and there are hundreds of tests that are being run to try to make it better."
