Peter Molyneux tycker det känns "magiskt" att Masters of Albion är tillbaka

Efter röran med Avhoppet som chef för Xbox Game Studios i Europa, nedläggningen av Lionhead och det misslyckade Godus har Peter Molyneuxs namn en viss bitter eftersmak i spelvärlden, trots att han ligger bakom klassiker som Fable.

Just nu leder Molyneux studion 22cans, där han tillsammans med gamla kollegor jobbar på ett projekt som heter Masters of Albion. Namnet till trots är det inte en Fable-spinoff, utan något helt nytt. Vi har fått små glimtar av det tidigare, bland annat i en exklusiv Gamereactor-intervju, och nyligen gästade Molyneux Nordic Game 2025 där han pratade med GamesIndustry.biz om projektet. När han fick frågan om spelet målade han upp en stark bild:

I've got to say this, but it's going to get me in trouble: every atom of my being believes we're making a great game. There is a magic that we used to have, when we created Dungeon Keeper and Black and White and Fable, and that magic was completely intangible. It's not something you can produce.

But it really feels that magic is back. And I'm not saying that to you to hype the game - I'm only saying so you get a perspective of how I'm feeling about the game.
It should be impossible to make this game. It's all about player freedom, it's all about asking ourselves what a god game is, what it should be, and what it should stand for. But: it's f*cking working. It's coming together."

Han beskriver vidare Masters of Albion som att det "feels fresh, and different, and new, and it feels, above all, insanely brave". Under användartester i USA fick de en kommentar som verkligen träffade honom:

"We've just done some user tests - I shouldn't say any of this stuff - using a company over in America. And the first thing that came back is, 'oh my god, I'm playing Fable.' That was such a wonderful moment for me."

Vissa har också jämfört Masters of Albion mer med Black & White, men enligt Molyneux är det mer än så:

"It is a blend, but that blend, just like that soup analogy, is something new, fresh and different."
