Dundermysiga Xbox-bossen Phil Spencer dök upp på Twitter under natten för att berätta lite om det han fått se av kommande Gears of War 4 på slutet och naturligtvis är han vanvettigt imponerad. Han nämnde att han är lika imponerad av Gears 4 som han var när han för första gången fick syn på Warfare, spelet som blev Gears of War (1).

I en tidigare intervju med Gamespot berättade Spencer om hur han inte ser Gears 4 som en re-boot:
"The thing that was great about the early Gears of War games, to me, was just the epic scale of the settings that I was in. The story, the setting was a lot more what I would call soulful and maybe even a little dark. And producer Rod Fergusson and I have talked about this; I think the game over time became almost more of a parody of itself; not for any kind of horrible reasons.
