Att ta upp AI i kreativa kreativa kretsar har blivit lite som att svära i kyrkan - inte helt uppskattat. Därtill har vi också problemet kring upphovsrätt, jobb som gått förlorade och mycket annat. Men skådespelaren Matthew Lawrence, mest känd från Mrs. Doubtfire, har inte någon vidare negativ syn på AI och skulle vilja se tekniken användas mer i nostalgiska syften.
Under San Diego Comic-Con presenterade han nämligen en idé kring att återskapa Robin Williams röst med hjälp av AI - för att hedra honom, inte slå mynt av hans arv. Något som väckte lika delar nyfikenhet som det också känns lite etiskt tveksamt. Till Entertainment Weekly sa Lawrence:
"I would love — now, obviously, with the respect and with the okay from his family — but I would love to do something really special with his voice because I know for a generation, that voice is just so iconic"
Idén föddes när Lawrence såg en gammal reklamfilm där Williams använder sig av en datorgenererad röst, som en slags föraning om dagens AI-revolution (nästan).
"It's kinda like this very contemporary, modern, almost sort of foreshadowing of what's going on commercial that he did, where he did this computerized voiceover. And it always stuck with me. And then, during his passing, with the AI coming out, I'm like, 'Man, he's gotta be the voice of A.I. He's gotta be the voice in something.' So yeah, I would love to do that"
