Everybody Loves Raymond-skaparen förklarar varför serien aldrig kommer rebootas
Serien startade 1996 och avslutades för drygt 20 år sedan. Men trots att det var en enorm succé har det aldrig pratats om en reboot...
Hollywood älskar som bekant att återuppväcka gamla serier, antingen som reboots eller fortsättningar, och det verkar som att det konstant arbetas på detta bakom kulisserna. Senaste åren har vi bland annat fått se Will & Grace, Arrested Development, Fuller House, That '90s Show, Saved by the Bell och Frasier.
En serie vi däremot inte hört något om är monstersuccén Everybody Loves Raymond, där både skaparen Phil Rosenthal (känd från bland annat Somebody Feed Phil på Netflix) och huvudpersonen Ray Romano sagt nej, och menar att det inte går att återskapa seriens storhet. Och att fortsätta historien fungerar inte heller eftersom skådespelarna Doris Roberts och Peter Boyle (spelade föräldrarna Marie och Frank Barone) båda har dött. Såhär säger Rosenthal om saken till Deadline:
"Many shows do reboots, and we've never wanted to do that. We felt like we couldn't honestly do one since some of the cast isn't with us anymore, and they were essential to the success of the show. Also, Ray and I both believe that reboots generally are never as good as the original."
Även Romano tyckte till om saken, och han är inne på precis samma spår:
"We don't want to do it because It would never be as good. First of all, even if every cast member was alive and well, they're never as good as when the show was thriving and we were younger. And the fact that the mother and the father and one of the kids is gone, and also a couple of the guest stars are gone, we would be doing a disservice to the show. They are such a major dynamic and element of what made the show work, it would almost feel disrespectful to them to even try to do it. I think even before, had the other actors still been around, I still think we would decide against doing a reboot."
Everybody Loves Raymond anses ha slutat i tid, och pensionerades efter sin nionde säsong när den fortfarande var populär och ansågs hålla hög klass. Rosenthal drog medvetet ur proppen för att den inte skulle få gå för länge.
Med det sagt så har fansen idag något att se fram emot, nämligen en återförening kallad Everybody Loves Raymond: 30th Anniversary Reunion. I USA sänds den på NBC men vilka som sänder den i andra delar av världen återstår att se.
