Endast sju produkter i Star Wars-franchisen hör till huvudstoryn; de sex filmerna och TV-serien The Clone Wars. Det berättade Lucasfilm i ett uttalande som gör det tydligt att de otaliga spelen, böckerna och serietidningarna inte ska tolkas som annat än underhållning som råkar utspela sig i samma universum som huvudstoryn.
"While Lucasfilm always strived to keep the stories created for the expanded universe consistent with our film and television content as well as internally consistent, Lucas always made it clear that he was not beholden to the EU. He set the films he created as the canon."
"This includes the six Star Wars episodes, and the many hours of content he developed and produced in The Clone Wars. These stories are the immovable objects of Star Wars history, the characters and events to which all other tales must align."
Men man berättar också att man från och med nu ska börja knyta ihop alla kommande delar av Star Wars-franschisen till en helhet, och att en ny avdelning på företaget har tilldelats uppgiften att koordinera storyn i alla avseenden.
