Samsung har presenterat en ny V-NAND baserad på 1 terabyte-drives för smartphones. Av oklar anledning används eUFS 2.1 istället för överlägsna UFS 3.0-standarden, men en lösning ska tydligen komma inom kort. Minnet kommer inte vara det snabbaste på marknaden, Samsung hävdar att hastigheten blir 1000 MB/S, vilket är dubbelt upp mot en traditionell SSD-hårddisk samt tio gånger snabbare än ett microSD. Cheol Choi från Samsung förklarar:
"The 1TB eUFS is expected to play a critical role in bringing a more notebook-like user experience to the next generation of mobile devices. What's more, Samsung is committed to assuring the most reliable supply chain and adequate production quantities to support the timely launches of upcoming flagship smartphones in accelerating growth of the global mobile market."
