Sony och Epic visade ett gott samarbete redan vid utannonserandet av Unreal Engine 5, vilken presenterades på Playstation 5. Och tydligen har det goda samarbetet fortsatt, för Epic Games skriver i en pressrelease att Sony nu köpt in sig i företaget med $250 miljoner (knappt 2,5 miljarder kronor). Enligt analytikern Daniel Ahmad gör detta att Sony nu äger 1,4% av Epic, och han fortsätter med att beskriva hur tankegångarna bakom sannolikt gått:
"Talking more broadly, Sony is fully aware of the direction Epic is heading in with Fortnite converging games, film, music and entertainment.
This is an area that Sony is also looking to explore with its various divisions and the partnership can benefit both in this case."
