Sony tycks ha rejäla planer på att bredda sin Playstation-publik den närmaste framtiden. Dual Shockers har översatt en japansk Dengeki-intervju med Sony-bossen Shuhei Yoshida som bland annat berättar att han vill att man ska kunna spela Playstation-spel på alla format:
"Speaking of the ultimate goal, we would like to deliver Playstation games to all devices. So we're considering various things like PC, TVs, Blu-ray players, smartphones and tablets. We hope to continue to expand not only to Sony devices, but even to devices other than Sony's. This is still being studied."
Och kanske kommer Playstation i framtiden mer att vara en tjänst snarare än hårdvara, enligt Yoshida: We previously spoke about Playstation going from hardware to something closer to a service, regardless of the device - Of course Playstation will still be the center, but I think we would like to expand to different things."
Stora visioner alltså. Tids nog kanske man inte längre behöver en Playstation-enhet för att kunna spela Playstation-spel. Något som onekligen skulle leda till att Sony når oerhörda mängder ny potentiell publik.
