Stranger Things hade kunnat slutat helt annorlunda - Darth Vader-liknande twist diskuterades

När Stranger Things slutligen knöt ihop säcken efter en nästan tio år lång resa så var det med en episk slutstrid mot Vecna och The Mind Flayer. Men många är nog ganska eniga om att den kändes lite väl safe utan någon direkt större överraskning eller chockerande twist. Men saker och ting hade kunnat utspela sig helt annorlunda.

I en intervju avslöjar Duffer-bröderna att de faktiskt lekte med en betydligt vildare idé innan de bestämde sig. Tanken var att Vecna skulle få samvetskval, byta sida och i sista stund slå sig ihop med Eleven och Kali i ett storslaget klimax mot The Mind Flayer. En renodlad "Darth Vader"-sväng, helt enkelt.

"We did discuss with the writers' room if he could have a Billy [Dacre Montgomery] moment where he turns against the Mind Flayer [in a] Darth Vader-type situation. But the more we talked about it with the writers and with Jamie [Campbell Bower], he's gone so far at this point to get here, he has to justify everything he's done. And the only way to justify that is to go, "I chose this, and I believe in this still.

"Even though he is shaken by seeing this memory, he's too far gone at this point to turn against the Mind Flayer. But we wanted to leave it up to the audience in terms of whether young Henry did choose this or whether it was simply the Mind Flayer controlling him from beginning to end. But ultimately, in terms of where Henry goes, it doesn't matter because he chooses the side of the Mind Flayer at the end of the day."

Men ju mer de diskuterade, desto tydligare blev det att Vecna gått för långt. Enligt Ross Duffer måste han rättfärdiga allt han gjort - och det gör han genom att stå fast vid sitt val. Trots att minnen från hans förflutna skakar honom, väljer han ändå The Mind Flayers sida. Därmed ströks idén om försoning.
