Över ett år har passerat sedan Fox först släppte trailern för The New Mutants. En film som skulle nyansera deras värld av superhjältar med skräck. Sedan dess har problem efter problem haltat produktionen och idag har den hamnat i ett limbo som inte ens skådespelarna vet något om. Simon Kinberg, filmens producent, menar dock att filmen kommer att släppas men att de måste göra om vissa scener vilket dröjer på grund av skådespelarnas kontrakt till andra produktioner. Något som kommer att ske ''någon gång i år''.
''It would seem simple on 'The New Mutants' because they're maybe not as big of movie stars as the main X-Men movies, but all of them are on TV shows, so we've got to wait until they get off their shows and they can all be in the same place at the same time. So that will be some time this year, we'll do our pick-ups and the movie will come out."
