Warhorse Studios, mest kända för medeltidssimulatorn Kingdom Come: Deliverance, har köpts upp av THQ Nordic. Den tjeckiska utvecklarens framgångar gjorde det till en dyr affär som gick på €33,2 miljoner. Lars Wingefors, chefen för THQ Nordic AB, hade som väntat ett uttalande på lut:
"Warhorse Studios is one of the leading independent studios in Europe and I am proud to welcome them to the THQ Nordic group. Kingdom Come: Deliverance, which has now sold over 2 million copies, has been a great success since the release exactly one year ago. I look forward to continue working with the founders who will continue managing the studio under strong creative freedom for many years to come."
Warhorse Studios-bossen Martin Frývalský verkar också nöjd med att numera ingår i THQ Nordic:
"Becoming part of THQ Nordic family is an important milestone for our studio. We began as a small start-up with a handful of employees who were enthusiastic enough to join this challenging project. The skills of our team members, trust and support of our main investor and passion of our fans, who supported development of Kingdom Come: Deliverance through a Kickstarter campaign, helped us grow to an international level. We believe that backing by THQ Nordic will give us an extra push in our mission to bring exciting games to our customers and extend the frontiers of the gaming industry."
Men det stannar inte där, THQ Nordic har dessutom köpt upp australiensiska utgivaren 18POINT2, ett företag som tidigare jobbat med bland annat Warner Bros, Lego och Telltale. Även i detta fall finns ett pressrelease-uttalande att läsa från 18POINT2-chefen Roger Clarke:
"I am delighted that 18point2 is joining Koch Media, as well as the broader THQ Nordic family. We share a singular focus on delivering the absolute best for our partners, as well as a shared commitment to our people. I am looking forward to building on the amazing work of the 18point2 team up until now, as we explore the exciting opportunities that lay ahead."
