En intervju Kotaku gjort med Tomb Raider-utvecklarna Crystal Dynamics har satt igång en hel del kontroverser.
Kotaku har hävdat att studions producent Ron Rosenberg sagt att Lara Croft utsätts för ett våldtäktsförsök i det kommande Tomb Raider-spelet. Detta ska ha designats för att spelare ska vilja "skydda" Lara Croft, enligt intervjun.
"She's definitely the hero but - you're kind of like her helper. When you see her have to face these challenges, you start to root for her in a way that you might not root for a male character."
Intervjun orsakade en hel del kritiska kommentarer mot Crystal Dynamics, som sedan gått ut med ett förtydligande om saken. Så här skriver man:
"One of the character defining moments for Lara in the game, which has incorrectly been referred to as an 'attempted rape' scene is the content we showed at this year's E3. [...] In this particular section, while there is a threatening undertone in the sequence and surrounding drama, it never goes any further than the scenes that we have already shown publicly. Sexual assault of any kind is categorically not a theme that we cover in this game."
Kotaku står dock för vad de sagt, och har nu publicerat intervjustoffet ord för ord, och där ska följande ha sagts i intervjun:
"And then what happens is her best friend gets kidnapped, she gets taken prisoner by scavengers on the island. They try to rape her, and..."
