Redan nu har esporten påverkats av Donald Trumps nya inreseregler till USA där invånare från sju länder numera är portade. En av dem som berörs är Vainglory-spelaren IraqiZorro, som precis som namnet antyder kommer från Irak. IraqiZorro får inte resa in i landet längre och kan därför inte tävla, och skriver:
"I think I'm still in the "shocked" phase, where I'm not able to fully comprehend yet that this is indeed our current reality..."
En annan liknande historia har Super Smash Bros-spelaren Mr.R som på Twitter skriver att han inte längre kan ta sig till USA. Street Fighter V-proffset Arman "Phenom" Hanjani skriver också om detta på Twitter, vilket betyder att han nu missar Capcom Pro Tour.
Super Evil Megacorp-bossen Kristian Segerstråle summerar läget i ett öppet brev:
"For the many migrants, green card holders (such as myself), and holders of various visas at Super Evil Megacorp at the Lair and around the world the fact that something like this can happen is pretty scary. Both the order itself and all the rhetoric around it.
I am certain that cooler heads will prevail and that the checks and balances in the US system of government will ensure that, the United States will revert to its status as a defender of equality and justice of all. Meanwhile, to anyone concerned about this; know that I will personally use all resources at my disposal to shield any staff and their families who might feel vulnerable as a result."
