Until Dawn är inget vidare, menar amerikanska kritikerkåren

Igår hade filmatiseringen av Supermassive Games hyllade skräckspel Until Dawn svensk biopremiär. Sony, som distribuerar filmen, har dock inte haft en lysande start med deras filmer då vare sig Uncharted eller Gran Turismo fick ett gott mottagande av kritikerna. Snare ansåg de att bägge filmerna var mediokra och när recensionerna till Until Dawn nu börjat rulla in, visar det sig att även Until Dawn följer detta mönster. I nuvarande stund har rysaren ett samlat omdöme på 50/100 på Metacritic och här nedanför kan du läsa ett par av omdömena.

Collider - 6/10
As entertaining as Until Dawn is, it's fairly light in most regards, other than the kills. While the characters in the game had more time to have intricate connections to one another, these five are fairly one-note.

The Guardian - 6/10
It's held together by Sandberg, a director who has mastered the art of totally competent studio horror with slick, equally forgettable films like Lights Out and Annabelle: Creation and he again shows himself to be a crisply efficient commercial film-maker again let down by a far less effective script. For a film all about repetition, one viewing will suffice.

The director, David F. Sandberg ("Annabelle: Creation") does an exhausting job moving along a script, written by Gary Dauberman and Blair Butler, that's made slack by mediocre monsters, muddled time loop stuff and underdeveloped characters who seem straight out of a lesser "Goosebumps" episode.

It feels like all the good ideas during the pre-production of "Until Dawn" were sanded down until the film lost almost all of its edge, wit, and actual horror. All that's left is a depressingly repetitive exercise in hyperactive editing, overheated sound design, and forgettable characters.
